昭和初期に活躍したが惜しくも早世した小説家、中島敦の代表作とされる短編小説。1942（昭和17）年の「文學界」に、「文字渦」とともに「古譚」と総題して発表された。中国唐代の伝記「人虎伝」に基づき、詩に執心して、ついに虎に変身してしまった男のすさまじい宿命の姿を描いて、作者の自嘲と覚悟を語る作品。

I read this book in two days. I would have finished it in one, but when I got halfway through it, I realized that I didn't want it to end. So I slowed down.I've read a lot such a different story which was so nice to read and so interesting I read this book in a day and a half in fact at 12 midnight
